Origins Voting is Open
Apr 11, 2003 Chrome

Thanks goes to Nadin for letting us know that the voting for the 2003 Origins Awards is now open. You can go here to vote.

ReaperEd took the time today to answer a couple of questions I had about the Origins Awards, my biggest concern being why there were no CAV items up for awards. He informed me that while a CAV miniature or product was submitted for every applicable category, none of them got nominated for awards. That means that it falls on us, the CAV Faithful, to give CAV the recognition it deserves with write-in votes!

Here's how I placed my votes in the scifi categories last night:

  • #4 - Game of the Year: CAV, Reaper Miniatures
  • #5 II - Best Game-Related Fiction Short Form: The Big Dance
  • #8 III - Best Science Fiction or Fantasy Figure Miniature: Borsig-Spline Ogre
  • #8 IV - Best Science Fiction or Fantasy Figure Miniature Series: Dark Heaven Legends

The reason why I voted for DH Legends instead of writing in CAV was b/c its the first time that the Dark Heavens line has ever been nominated for an award. Plus I figured that if we pooled our resources together with all of the RPG'ers who are sure to vote for DH, we could give Reaper their first Origins Award. ReaperMatt pointed out to me today that while Reaper casts, plates and polishes the statues that are awarded, they've never won one!

One last quick thing; the reason why I didn't write CAV in for Best SciFi Miniature Rules is that that category is only for games that have been released in the previous year.

I've been documenting my progress and just started a kit "review" of sorts. Check out the first installment here.
