Mil-Net has it on good authority that the latest batch of goodies released recently in the US (see Chrome’s post below) will also be available in UK shops within about three weeks. MiniFigs already has the masters in-hand, so no worries about lengthy delays. If you want prices, please e-mail Frank at frank@steelveterans.co.uk.

We're back from GenCon...
Aug 11, 2002 — Kaimaster |
|
Wow. Very intense days and lots of demos in the Reaper booth. But it was all good. I played in the scenario run by Gunslinger and DemonGirl, and last night (Saturday night) after the doors closed Freefall, Chrome, and I got into the Microsoft MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries simulation pods. DemonGirl showed up for a second game with FF & Chrome too. I dropped a second time with 3 Games Workshop guys... I didn't let everyone down!
The final version of the JoR was there and for sale as the printer sent ahead like 50 copies for us at GenCon. The remainder of the printings should be available to the distributors around the 20th of this month.
The JoR had some changes from the pre-release version some AO's received at Origins, and some of them are:
- The range of the Ogre's weapons increased to 36 inches
- The target lock of the Ogre dropped to +3
- The new little CAV is spelled consistently "Kahn" in the JoR but the blisters have it wrong
- The ACA for the Kahn is +1 (not +3)
- "always a chance to repair" -- if you roll a natural 10 for a repair roll you are automatically successful regardless of target
- Some construction rules changed including addressing the negative weapon cost thing, more vehicle types added, etc.
- Primary and secondary weapon mounts are now used in the rules
- ECCM clarification -- it is a 9 inch radius surrounding the unit with the ECCM pod, not an 18 inch radius
- All of the text and headers seem to be consistent now! Wooo hooo heh
One of the most fun parts of the experience was getting to see the new 3-D Rhino... the monster is now 2.5 inches tall (the original is 2.125) so it's signficant. Matt Ragan showed me the "bear hug" -- the old Rhino fits inside the arms of the new one very nicely.
The Warlord and Knight were there as well, and they are almost ready to go I am told... so they'll be out relatively soon! And the Warlord is the size of the current Rhino.
Finally... Matt is changing the rule for surrounding units in close assault a little bit. It will be in the next errata released by Reaper. If a unit is surrounded and can not retreat, it is NOT destroyed. It instead takes a critical hit.

Malvernians rule!
Aug 11, 2002 — Kaimaster |
|
In the scenario run by Gunslinger and DemonGirl, the Malvernian team (captained by DemonGirl) retook the planet with some help from friendly orbital bombardment...
Check out the forums in the next couple of days for an in-depth description of what happened in the battle!
And for those who are curious... she did indeed use a dictator in one of her sections ;)

I just got confirmation from Ed that they do have the Journal of Recognition in their warehouse, but that it would not be going out until after they finish their current big shipment to another client.
So expect them to start shipping to distributors sometime next week.
